A safety buckle in Muonionalusta iron meteorite — 18.6 g at 10 mm thick. The thickness is the notable figure: at 10 mm this is roughly three times the section of our standard slices, which gives the form real substance in the hand and lets the edge itself show pattern, not just the face.
Iron meteorite carries an internal crystal lattice formed by extremely slow cooling in space and revealed by acid etching. On a thin slice you see that lattice on one plane. On a 10 mm section the etched edge shows it running through the body of the metal as well, which makes the structure read as volume rather than surface.
