Thickness and light

Olivine is translucent; the nickel-iron around it is not. At nearly 5 mm the crystals sit deep enough in the section that light entering the face has some depth to travel through, which changes the green from flat to layered.

Epoxy sealed. Avoid abrasives and prolonged soaking.
