Olivine in metal
A pallasite is a stony-iron meteorite: crystals of olivine suspended in a nickel-iron matrix. Held against light the olivine reads translucent green while the metal around it stays opaque. No two slices carry the same distribution — the crystals sit where they happened to settle.
Care
The metal phase contains iron and will corrode in open air, so each piece is sealed with an epoxy coating before it ships. Avoid abrasives and prolonged soaking.
