A Sericho pallasite ring in 925 silver, made to suit a range of sizes. Pallasite is an awkward material for a ring and the sizing is where that shows: the meteorite section is rigid and cannot be stretched or compressed, so the silver has to carry all of the adjustment.

Olivine held in metal

A pallasite is a stony-iron meteorite — olivine crystals suspended in a nickel-iron matrix. Sericho, recovered in Kenya, is valued for how cleanly those crystals read; under direct light the green is translucent against opaque metal, and in shade it largely disappears.

Wearing a specimen

Because the crystals settled naturally before the parent body cooled, the face of every ring is a different cut through a different part of that distribution. Two rings made to the same specification will not look the same, which is the trade-off you accept with natural material.

Care

The nickel-iron matrix contains iron and will corrode if left exposed to air. The piece is sealed with an epoxy coating; avoid abrasives and prolonged soaking.
